(subtitle) My weekend journal.

I left work Friday last with the best of intentions. I had plans to finish my first headstock template, cut out several headstocks and complete the other end too. I also wanted to practice (I play classical) and learn a little more of a Torroba piece I have started. An ambitious weekend, to say the least.

Well, you know what's coming. I got sick, ended up spending my working hours on a project dictated by the boss (you know which one I mean! ) and then had to cut the grass. This all in between naps to overcome whatever malady aflicted yours truly.

I finally had some time to begin the template, make some plans to convert my shop to luthery and what can I say, I got to spend some time smelling Spanish cedar! Few things in life, smell as good.

Oh, I have yet to practice!

Sorry to hear about your bad weekend. I too got shanghai'd. For me it was building laundry room shelves.

Since you play classical and build I have a question for you (or any other builder/classical player). How do you keep you nails? I play with pretty short nails and they still end up hitting the belt sander or getting broken when grabbing something. Seems almost impossible.

Hi, I actually have been a woodworker for many years and I have faced this question. The solution is simpler than it seems; golf gloves! They are form fitting, tactile AND you can do a Michael Jackson imitation!

All kidding aside, they have saved my nails on more than one occasion because the glove hits the sandpaper or whatever before my nails do.
